|
Skills development has been identified as one of the most important focuses for economic growth and poverty alleviation in South Africa.
The Graham and Rhona Beck Skills Centre's primary focus is to address the training needs of people in rural communities and acts mainly as a facilitating body, matching training supply with demand, and by providing a world-class training venue and facilities.
The core business of the training centre can be described as follows:
- Providing quality infrastructure (human and physical) for an education and skills training centre for all economic sectors.
- The facilitation of training programmes (tasks include needs establishment, identification of service providers, planning, matching, and quality assurance of accredited service providers).
- Utilising funding opportunities and linking with national and provincial government funding programmes.
- Activities of the centre should lead to growth and development of human resources in the targeted geographic area.
